St. Petersburg has an interesting history...

The world's first commercial flight was from St. Petersburg to Tampa, FL on January 1, 1914.

And, in 1914 Florida's love affair with baseball began when the city's former mayor, Al Lang, convinced the St. Louis Browns to come to the Sunshine City for spring training.

And, for color, Al Capone spent time in St. Petersburg during prohibition. He is reputed to have been a partner in a speakeasy in Jungle Prada neighborhood of the city.
